So I was all happy that I was able to use my laptop and write blog entries while being at uni whenever I could….WHEN I saw the big flaw in my grand plan.

When I go to japanese class, it’s kinda impossible. Since it’s a separate school, I don’t got the login&password for getting on their wireless net. How stupid I felt when I tried to log on to the blog yesterday…lol.

Today I present a nice little OP to a nice eroge which is more like a visual novel then hentai game. Think of it as “Game with a good story and some sex scenes making it a seinen”-kinda game.

It’s called Kara no Shoujo and is made by Innocent Grey (funny how eroge companies use “innocent” and the like in their names, lol). The reason I’m showing it is because the weather is grey-ish over here, raining too, and because this eroge will have a hentai ova out next month.

I think everyone should watch it even if they don’t know the Touhou chars as much as I have come to know them. It’s brilliant…well it’s great. I love how the put it together where you don’t see any faces but evil smiles and nice figures of the  characters, yes a “Silhouette Painting” if you may.

I’d recommend the song too even if you forgot a little to much on the video, lol.

Been as busy as I am…everything else will stand still, lol.

I found out something today that I can actually do instead of just waiting it for to be weekend and then go “omg so much homework…guess I’ll wrote a post next weekend” etcetc

Today when I was at school, I saw a guy, writing a mail, checking his face book and writing a new entry on his blog!

After seeing it I decided that it was a nice idea to copy and do that. Sadly my laptop was at home, rofl.

Anyways from now on the mission is to have the laptop to the lectures and write a few entries (or atleast one pr week) from uni!

Like I said yesterday, I would write a new post yesterday, which I did but forgot to press on Publish before I went to bed, lol. This will now be done *clicks on publish* enjoy a little bit of history.

Scanlation is something that has been illegal since it started early morni……a few decades ago. Illegal because you take a licensed work, translate it and then share it with other people without the author or the manga company’s consent.

Some people think, it’s alright to scanlate the manga untill it’s been licensed in the country, they are living in (normally they think licensed = licensed in USA) which is wrong since it’s illegal before it was licensed in their country. It’s licensed from the point the company buy the rights to make it….which means it’s already licensed in the whole world when you can find the manga in the Japanese bookstores.

Then there are those, who thinks it’s alright to scanlate the manga since the manga company, that got it licensed in their country (in USA), are doing a bad work with their favorite manga, and they could do a better job themself…still illegal but they don’t care. If you want them to care then get the manga releasing company to do a better job, when they release the manga in their country.

In the end there are those who don’t give a damn about anything and scanlate no matter what. Since you can get your favorite manga and it’s all free, it’s okay in their eyes. We call them bastards….who should ####. >:D

From the start scanlation had the goal (the real agenda of scanlation) of promoting manga in their country and get it licensed by some manga/comic companies so you could buy it, or get more people to read your favorite manga aka making a fanbase. Of course this doesn’t hit entirely well with the company’s in Japan or the companies, who release manga in that specific country (again read USA), who wants to sell the manga without losing money on it.

I understand them but since I, myself, am a scanlator, I understand the other part too. I understand the people who don’t want to pay for a shitty quality manga released from the companies and I understand why the companies want a scanlation group to stop translating and sharing the manga even after they licensed it and are doing a nice job with it. Sadly I wouldn’t have been buying this much manga if there wasn’t a scanlation community showing me all kind of great mangas and the manga companies wouldn’t know what to license if they couldn’t check what it is people are into so they can license it and earn money on it. If I didn’t have access to scanlations I would probably end up buying a really few titles after thinking a lot about which to taste with blindfolds.

The Scanlation Community have been through a big deal of problems, goodies and fights since it started up. Some groups died while some groups are still alive even today. How to scanlate a manga, translate it, edit it, find the raw in japanese, use specific software tools for manga editing,  host it, and how to share it….are things that have been on the mind of each group since the community started. Everyone group had their own way at the start but slowly started to use the same places since it was easier. The speedscanlators who did released their bad quality stuff the day after it was released in Japan. The most important thing for scanlation groups and the fans; places where they could go and check if something was released. Oh, and lets not forgot when the companies wanted them to stop scanlating, and the people who earns money on the free scanlations by tricking “innocent” people to pay for what they put up on their hosting site.

All this and a lot more on this new site made by people who’s been in the scanlation community for a long time. I heard from the friend who showed me this site before it aired that it had taken 5 years to collect and write all this. Even if I don’t agree entirely with them and their choices (since I’ve been on the scanlation community from the start too) I still wanna say this: Kudos to the people who worked on it!

We need a place of history to show everyone that there is a place which got a history hidden from the world with lots of changes; yes like was it another world called scanlation with lots of different people coming together to make something new with its happiness, sadness and shiny-ness XD

I’m in da scanlation community cuz of various reasons but that’s a topic for another day. For a day when I got lots of time and don’t know what to write about.

Today we shall talk about the latest in the scanlation world. There are two new things in it: “MangaHelpers’ 180% turn” and “The new history site of Scanlations” which aired yesterday, 10/10;2010 at 10. (I was reading and looking at it before though, kekeke)

In this post I will write a little about Mangahelpers. The next one will be on the site…will write it in the evening.^^

Mangahelpers (MH), who supported scanlations in the past (which we all know are illegal stuff) are trying to make a deal with Viz to support them so they can make the scanlations “legal”. This is not a problem but they want to help Viz hunt down the other scanlators. Also take money for future scanlations on their site, which other people made, by making it pay pr view.

Reason: They want to earn on the community “they” made which lots of people are using cuz they found a common place/site. Yep, the usual: Let’s use others to make money ourself.

What is MH?

This is MangaHelpers.

A place, where raw providers upload their raws, translators translate what they want after their own choice (from the manga that were put up on the site), editors edit what they want and it’s released on the site. If someone wanted to make a group and release manga they can get that function on MH too. After a year or two (MH 4 years old now) this resulted in lots of speedscanlations. Groups were releasing shitty quality scans and people didn’t care because they could get “their” favorite manga to read. The only plus imho was that there were titles scanlated which probably never would have been.

What does MH Staff do?

They made that site 4 years ago and now fix a few things here and there. After that they go and tell people “hey don’t do that!” or “You are banned” or makes a few rules or topics. Yep a typical forum with mods. Sometimes they post messags on the frontpage too, I think.

Why the change of hearts?

Supposedly MH got a  Cease&Desist letter from Kodansha. There is no proof since no one has seen it except MH staff. Yes, only MH has seen it and they are the ones who are selling themself to Viz atm, lol.

How do I know this?

Well, I was on irc and a friend of mine posted a few links in my face, going: “See what secrets plans MH is going around and making. These were leaked out by a secret agent, hehehe”. I looked at those links which you can do too:

The mail and their draft of the business plan kinda makes it obvious what it is they want. I know that some of you are thinking, this is a spoof, lol. Let me help you making this all clearer by posting MH response-links which actually shows they are real enough.

Their first response after they found out that the documents were leaked out to the people: OMG FOUND OUT!

Their second response after they read how people in their community feels about the deal: We know we screwed you but still…

If you read the business plan in detail you will notice they want to sell working power to Viz, a power that’s not theirs to sell, and they want to help Viz hunting down illegal scanlations, scanlations they had on their site for 4 years.

It’s hypocrites talking about going legal after being illegal for 4 years. Of course there are some supporters, specially the staff who can’t see how hypocritical it is…..which makes sense cuz they are the ones getting the money, lol.

Let’s not forget their “we will control what manga will be out since we are controlling the raw flow” which means that the only manga the rest of us will be reading in the future, will be the ones decided by MH who got their mangas from Viz…yes for a “free” world. -_- Thank god for japanese peer to peer programs, not that I know anything about them >.> <.<

How I feel about it?

I as other scanlation groups feel stabbed by  people who you actually believed to be great. If they wanted to take that kind of action, they should have started with the people who actually provide them with everything for their site to run this well today. Let’s be real: Without them MH wouldn’t be what MH is today. This is probably also the anger message in the comments under those MH-links I posted. Some of them are funny to real while others got good arguments for their responses. Rest are idiots talking, lol.

Is the concept stupid?

About the concept, I find it great if you take out the hunting down the people who are scanlating  and start from scratch by asking each and every group if they want to take part in this, since they will get a minimal salary too, instead of just expecting the groups will know it themself since everyone reads the messages the mod’s posts. SORRY, I DON’T READ THEM AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL!!!

It’s a great concept but a bit too early out though. We aren’t that far into the bit-data’s era yet, where everyone wants their book on their e-reader. Atm it’s only a few ppl doing it since there are still many people out there who wants books in paper format. At my uni there’s only 2 I’ve seen with an E-reader.

Also there is another point to realize: The speedscanlations are a lot more shitty quality than the books I buy from the manga companies, so there’s no need for me to pay for shitty scans, when I can just get the book instead. I don’t want to buy manga titles, when I  can edit it myself and a lot better. Yes, I buy lots of manga but only after reading the scanlations on the net. I buy what I like and will do that in the future too….thanks to free scanlations. Buying about 40 titles atm but without scanlations I would probably be on 3-4 titles, lol. Good thing this won’t affect me in the future since I’m learning japanese now. XD

BUT if MH waited a few years and didn’t have those annoying problems which affect people in a bad way then this would have been a superb idea which nearly every scanlator would support, also the fans reading the manga.

Yeah, I haven’t written anything since….last month…errr the month before. Like I said before, everything will become busy and I will get less and less time to write this whole semester. Now there’s only a few months left and I can come back from hell again. XD

Read it or don’t-….in short: Lots of advices where one was to enforce a legal ban on video games featuring rape and sexual violence.

Of course, this is only for the discrimination of women in Japan. GirlxGirl, GuyxGuy and woman raping (read: Forced sex0ring) men is totally fine since you won’t be discriminating any women in those cases, lol.

I would love to say a lot about how I don’t see how pictures can affect people more than erotic novels, pornographic, violent sex games and orgies, sex education in school, newspaper with details about the rapes etcetcetc  but I don’t got that much time and I don’t think you got that much time either.

Though I would want to tell this to UN: Women discriminating is good thing to eliminate but aren’t you forgetting something much more important? Climate? Humans dying cuz of hunger? Humans dying cuz of idiotic people deciding to wage war? Instead of just picking on Japan for their eroge, start by the more important things and if I remember right the ani….monsters (no need to offend the animals) who kidnapped girls and kept in their cellars for decades and who were from eu and america. Oh, lets not forget the teacher in England who seduced and much younger student cuz she wanted girlxgirl action….or the people in a mid-african country where women get raped daily since they got a civil war running which the UN wants to do nothing about…or middleeast which probably will have the Israel killing the Stone-throwers, who doesn’t know better than shooting up in the air and thinking they are sooo great even after losing their country, lol. Anyways, the conclusion to all this shit about banning  eroge was that Japan got a new government and everyone forgot about the ”eroge problem” since it’s more fun to talk about the climatic changes, how the new president likes to read manga and how interesting his wife is. I had my first “serious” Japanese class yesterday….gonna have one again tomorrow. When  I say “serious” I mean that I will take it much seriously then I’ve done so far. After having Japanese for the last  years once pr month (normally you meet once pr week but I didn’t have time to do so…) it’s only fair to Japanese and myself that I take it seriously this time.

So what did we do yesterday? …nothing much just learned the first 25 out of 50 hiragana alphabets in one go!

People were having headaches since it was a lot at once, lol. I was relaxing since I know my hiragana (know my katakana too but mix them up sometimes) so in the break I did the homework we had gotten for the weekend. Yeah, I’m a smart-ass…buzz off

So while I was doing it…you have to remember these are for people who never had Japanese before…I noticed something funny and noticeable. You had to take find the right romaji (roman alphabet) for the right hiragana word…and later write the right hiragane for the right romaji word.

Anyway, the words I stumbled onto while doing the exercises were stuff like:

There was once one British guy who bought a game from japan called RapeLay and then sold it on amazon.co.uk.

There were also once a feminist group in USA/England (not entirely sure) who noticed that game and then started a huge debate that span over the whole world debate in their country that Japanese eroge games were the cause for rapes in Japan and aired in the news for 5 mins.

There were also some Japanese TV news and the Japanese government who saw that they got the blame for all the rapes in the world and started to ban every kind of eroge in japan (think they went for every kind of hentai, lol)

As some of you readers know because you are normal sane people, rape in a movie doesn’t mean that you have to go rape someone on the street…..sadly some people doesn’t get it *points to a certain female group* and think that’s the reason for rape in the world. XD

Definition for Eroge;  ”An eroge (エロゲー erogē?, a portmanteau of erotic game: erochikku gēmu) is a Japanese video or computer game that features erotic content, usually in the form of anime-style artwork. ” (Thank you, Wiki)

Yeah, there are rape games, tentacle games, loli games, milf games, cheating games, demon games, highschool love games, work love games, gay games, lesbian games…heck even games for girls who hunts hunks in a male harem….well actually all kinds of eroge games. This doesn’t mean that every eroge is bad…people got their tastes, let them have it, no need to force down your taste on them. It’s not democrazy!

It’s like the topic; “Violent games makes psychos” started by another certain female group in some country -_-;;;; Instead of focusing on your kids and teaching what’s right and wrong, so when they become adults, they can become proper adults, it’s easier for them just to blame other things, in this case eroge/games.

Before I start on what I’m pissed at, I will tell you the truth: I’ve played the title in question, RapeLay. I stopped in the middle…I started to pity the females because it seemed like they were getting sick (well you could hear their “sick” voices) so I stopped playing it. Mind you it was one of the first 3D games so that may be reason why many played it. After that I haven’t played it even after it got a shitty fan-translation…since I found lots of other better and tastier games :3

To find new games or news about eroge, I wander around the homepages for different game companies to check up on stuff. Though I hadn’t noticed the change for the company in question. That way you can see if there’s something to get or not, not just eroge but dramaCD, posters, figures, towels etcetc. Yes, it’s in Japanese but since the net was made for everyone and not only for the Americans who invented it, I figure, everyone is allowed to the information if it’s on the net to be shared with others.

Anyways, Minori, who is also one of the eroge companies, took action for the news debate and the government debate in their country Japan and closed off their site for everyone except Japan.

then after they thought about the shitty way they had written their message and the reponse the people had given to them they changed it…..WELL WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IF YOU GOT THAT MESSAGE IN YOUR FACE???

It did piss me off, just because of a little group in america/england the whole world were getting punished, instead of just ignoring them, they ban the whole world from their “public” site…”protecting our culture” my ass!!!

Of course it seems like I wasn’t the only one pissed, lol

Eroge Maker Minori: “Dirty Foreigners Get Off Our Site!”

People were trolling, discussing, laughing, getting angry or agreeing with the actions. I’ve written in there too, a lot even (wasting my time ;P ) trying to tell that it’s stupid for the company to take this kind of action to punish everyone because there was a group who said that eroge was bad!

The Japanese visitors didn’t do better by saying that yes it was a bad action but it was our own fault for this happening…WTF???!!?!?! HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE AT ALL? NOW LETS NUKE JAPAN AGAIN FOR BEING STUPID CUZ IT’S THEIR OWN FAULT! Yep, if what they say make sense then this does too, so…..let nuke them :3

Anyways…notice  if you ever read through the link,  there is no place where one of the Japanese apologies for the stupid action Minori had taken and how they keep saying that both “the company” and  ”the world” are at fault. In my opinion if you are that arrogant then you deserve this shit, karma, love it

Minori got a lot of reactions from foreigners that knew how to write in Japanese and probably also Japanese in other countries than just in japan, lol. So they changed their messages to this: (still click-able to read it)

After looking at their message I kind of understood what the problem was and agreed that it wouldn’t do any good to rage over this anymore…they had problems down there and needed help, cool….BUT WOULDN’T THAT HAVE BEEN BETTER TO JUST WRITE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE INSTEAD OF GETTING “LITTLE PERPLEXING” ABOUT WE WROTE THOSE LETTERS!?!?!?!??!?!

I wasted hours a few days of my life trying to make the Japanese on that blog understand that you can’t do worldwide punishment for a little thing like this, and if you wanted help them you should just have said so in the first place. The Japanese may not know how to help others but there’s a bunch of us in the world who was taught that by our parents.

This was also discussed in this post but as you can see I gave up discussing anymore…I understood the reason, they had placed their action upon.

Nitroplus Partners with JAST for English Eroge

Nitro+  is one of the companies I really like, they got eroge with nice plots, stories, chars and art~ to drool over. When Phantom of the Inferno came out in English edition to the states I got my sister to get one for me while she was taking classes over there. Still love the game XD

Anyways…if you think a little then actions like those can be taken, instead of blowing it all up, use the tactic; “If you can’t fight them, then make them join you”.
